Celloly Nerdness. (And some other music too)

Okay. Lets Start July off right.
With a post about music. Mostly cello stuffs too.

First off. A musician Ive fallen in love with. Zoe Keating.
Her new album is out and I love it. I have no money to get my hands on it yet but...soon.
Meanwhile its streaming free here.

Now, chances are, I already posted about this. BUT.
Here's the amazing thing about this woman. Not only did she come out with a new album, but she had a baby last month. (if you follow her on twitter, it is the the most beautiful baby)
But. Her new album? Debuted on Billboard Classical albums at #7.
#7.
With "No marketing, no publicity: just digital dwnlds"
And you people question me saying she's good. She really is!!!

ALRIGHT.
Next. Another cellist.
That I just found yesterday.
Gordon Withers.
Yet ANOTHER cellist (Unwoman) re twittered that any cellist who messaged him on twitter got his new album for free.

How. could. I. resist?
and its so good. (streaming free here)
Its good.

(Speaking of Unwoman, I got a poster from her for free. I haven't put it up yet but - cool, right?)

Okay next.
Yet another new cellist Ive found.
Not necessarily her music but her blog and book.
Emily Wright. She wrote this book.
"
A Modern Cellist's Manual: Technique, Approach and Musings"
"
A very different sort of cello method, A Modern Cellist's Manual combines technical information and plenty of photographs with advice on approach. Topics addressed range from the basics of a painless bow grip to injury avoidance, working with a metronome, and tenor clef. Emily's tone and sense of humor lighten the mood of any practice session. A Modern Cellist's Manual is suitable for those taking private lessons as well as returning cellists looking to bolster rusty technique."

I waaaannnntttttt.

NNNEEXXXXXXTTTTT.
A story.
Keith Tutt is a cellist. He also has solo msuic where he sings and plays guitar but I know him as cellist for Switchfoot.
And an incredibly nice guy who always remembers me. (I think its the whole introducing myself as playing cello too...)
But I saw him at the bro-Am and he remembered me. Was so nice about it too. Told me how he's working on solo stuff and wants to play bro-am by himself next year.
YES PLEASE.

I also had the really random thought about him and me sitting around talking about cello stuff all day.
Oh I would love it. And then have him teach me the cello parts to switchfoot songs.
Hehehehe.

I feel like Im getting off track now. There was something else I wanted to post.
Was it about me and the music I downloaded to start playing and practicing? Or how I bought a coldplay album yesterday?
Or that Dustin Ruth album I finally listened to and feel in love with?

Maybe I should just do a weekly music post so I dont bombard you all with all this. heheheh.
That is all.

Celloly yours,
Amy

"You are the hope, that keeps me trusting."

This song has been stuck in my head.
I love it. Its applicable to my life and I always feel the need to share it.
(There is the famous skit to this song to, but as a musician, I fall much more in love with the song and the words)

Find Me Here
Speak To Me
I want to feel you
I need to hear you
You are the light
That's leading me
To the place where I find peace again.

You are the strength, that keeps me walking.
You are the hope, that keeps me trusting.
You are the light to my soul.
You are my purpose...you're everything.

How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

You calm the storms, and you give me rest.
You hold me in your hands, you won't let me fall.
You steal my heart, and you take my breath away.
Would you take me in? Take me deeper now?

How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?
And how can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

Cause you're all I want, You're all I need
You're everything,everything
You're all I want your all I need
You're everything, everything.

You're all I want you're all I need.
You're everything, everything
You're all I want you're all I need, you're everything, everything.

And How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?
How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

Fromspringyspringspring

Currently: downloading a LOT of music. And not even half of it is stuff my friends recommended. Im still writing all that down for later.

Okay. I know I promised pictures of rain, but im making it goal to get school stuff done before I do that so, here's the thing.
I have this formspring thing.

And people ask em questions. So for todays post. Im just copying and pasting a few questions ive been asked and what I answered. I know. But Im busy and kind of need to focus on other things. But im still posting every day! (Except for those two...heheh)

Who inspires you the most?

Way too many people. But Jon Foreman, Stephen Christian (sp?) are a couple. My boardies friends, and kids. Kids ALWAYS inspire me.

Why is your name Amy?

Because (I kid you not) My mom was told my God her first child would be a girl named Amy. (or something along those lines)

Does your cello have a name?

It does not. Ive had it two yrs and have not named it. Although I will refer to it as my "wooden baby".

What's your favorite thing about playing the cello?

Oh sheesh. Lots of things but for me personally-its kind of connection. When I play I just flow into it and tend to put everything into playing. Playing just takes me somewhere nothing else does.

Is there any other place in the world you'd like to live in?

Definitely! Problem is, I want to see and live everywhere.

What was your favorite toy as a child?

Books! I was totally all about listening to my cassete tapes and reading books. My playdoh dried out and what barbies I had lost many-a shoes.

what was your favorite childhood book?

After seriously thinking, cause I read a lot and forget some, Narnia books. They stuck with me the most from my dad reading them to me to me reading them and wondering "colour" was. Haha.

Favorite thing to eat for breakfast?

Hashbrowns, eggs over medium and country fried steak. YUM!

Free Music, you say?

Anyone who knows me will tell you I'm the biggest Switchfoot fan on the face on the planet.
And while my love for them has cooled (okay-maybe not lately-there's been A LOT of news), I'm an even bigger fan of music.
And I've found a lot of free stuff lately. So I shall share.

The first was shown to me by a boardie friend Sarah (http://blogofthesarah.blogspot.com/2009/04/free-music.html)
free album from the band We shot The Moon. I haven't really listened to them before but some boardie friends and really--who am I pass up on free music?
http://weshotthemoon.com/free/
And yes, it's good. I think its only good till like today -so go now.

Next one. By a band called Berch. i don't know anything about them other than they are a fan of Switchfoot and they started to follow me on twitter so...I followed back. Lol
http://www.purevolume.com/Berch

Now Hearitfirst.com has a free download every week and this week they had two.
Normally, I dont get the free download because i dont really caqre or my ner sucks or already have it, but thie week they had the song "Back and Forth" which has been playing a lot of Air1 and I kind of love it.

Next is a mix of things. Usually amazon bugs me but... when they give you 6 songs for free, okay, I will give and get it.
1. In Christ-Big Daddy weave (More country, more my moms style)
2.No One Else Knows-Building 429 (Okay-only heard like a total of three or four of their songs but i like em)
3.Enough-Barlowgirl (woo)
4.You Lift Me Up-Rachel Lampa
5.Breathe Your Name-Sixpence None The Richer (love this band, love love this song)
6.Adore-Jaci Velasquez.
You do have to download Amazon downloader thing first but whatever.

Gavin Mikhail.
Oh my when my boardie friend (Mellie) (http://melinthemilkyway.blogspot.com/2009/04/free-music-gavin-mikhail.html) posted this on her blog, I called her cupid. 4 albums for free? I will give this guy a try. You should too. He's pretty cool and nice, and will respond to you on twitter. lol
http://www.myspace.com/gavin_songs

Lastly-Switchfoot. Ah
Now if you havent heard-theyve released new about their new upcoming album.
1. thats its actually 4 albums theyve been working on, to relaeased at differetn times, starting this August
2. That the first will be "Hello Hurricane" and another "vice Verses"
Now-If you follow them on Twitter and/or go to landofbrokenhearts.org frequently, you've seen this.
the truh is-there's a whole media section of songs the guys have played that you can download-of course what I have to talk about is the latest songs
Vice Verses-crazy good song. two versions up-get both. 1st one is slow and nice but the second one with Keith-well what can I say? I'm biased. Keith is the cellist and I'm in love.

Yet-I love this song. beyond words. Even though it makes me cry every time I listen. Aha.

I think you can manuvear yourself around there so I wont put up anything else.

I think that it's. I find free stuff randomly, but this week has been a really good week. heh.
Okay, I'm off to blog more.
